Dr. James Douglas

Dr. James Douglas

Dr. James Douglas attained a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in physiology, from the University of Otago (NZ) in 1978. He then completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1982. The two degrees have shaped his holistic approach to dentistry, providing a deep understanding of the effects dentistry has not only on your teeth, jaw and face, but on your overall general health and vitality. Dr Douglas’s holistic approach has lead to a special interest and expertise in orthodontics, temporomandibular joint issues and sleep dentistry.

Throughout his dentistry Dr Douglas maintains a philosophy of tooth conservation with a focus on his patient’s long term oral and general health. Dr. Douglas offers the latest in orthodontic treatment including Invisalign®, an almost invisible way to straighten and align teeth that is also more comfortable than traditional braces. Dr Douglas is also skilled in cosmetic dentistry and can rejuvenate your smile with treatments including teeth whitening, veneers, implants and crowns.

Dr. Douglas continuously seeks further education, keeping up to date with the latest dental innovations and techniques as a part of his commitment to the wellbeing of his patients. This leads him to conferences and seminars throughout Australia and America on a regular basis.

Dr. Jena Ward BoralH(DentSci) GradDipDent (Hons 1st Class) Bsc

Dr Jena Ward

Dr. Jena Ward graduated dentistry with first class honours from Griffith University. She won the award for Clinical Excellence in Endodontics following her extensive research into root canal therapy. Previously she graduated with a BSc majoring in Biomedicine from Auckland University. After graduating she worked rurally, focusing on Neuromuscular, Aesthetic, Reconstructive and Implant Dentistry before joining Jephson Street Dental.

Jena keeps up to date with numerous conferences, and utilizes the latest technology, including 3D CAD/CAM. Her special interests include Invisalign (an almost invisible option to straighten teeth), root canal therapy, and cosmetic dentistry.

Originally from Brisbane, raised in Hong Kong Jena has lived in eight different countries and relates easily to all patients. Jena enjoys spending time with her family, sailing and volunteering her dental services overseas in third world countries.

Dr. Ann Chen

Dr. Ann Chen

Dr. Ann Chen graduated from the University of Queensland in 2009. She has extensive experience working as a Dentist in the Government, Private and Academic settings. Above all, Ann believes in creating a relaxed and comfortable dental experience for everyone. She has a keen interest in the following areas:

Dr. Lidija Lakic

Dr. Lidija Lakic

Dr. Lidija Lakic is passionate in providing gentle caring service with a focus on treating patients like her family. She graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in 2008 and ventured out into the countryside in order to gain invaluable experience and serve where the need was great.

Although taking great enjoyment in multiple aspects of dentistry, Lidija’s particular passions include cosmetic dentistry, challenging tooth extractions and root canal treatments. Lidija loves to keep up to date with the latest developments in dentistry and general health and has recently expanded her skill set to include alignment of crooked teeth with clear retainers, by a brand called ClearCorrect.

Lidija enjoys being available to listen and communicate your options to you. One of her great satisfactions is her gentleness in administering local anaesthetic. Her main focus has and always will be the prevention of disease; however, she also takes great delight in providing restorative service of the highest quality.

In her spare time Lidija enjoys hiking, dancing, travelling and reading.

Rhonda Hoeben

Rhonda Hoeben

Rhonda graduated with distinction as a Dental Therapist in 1982 and has worked in the School Dental Service for 30+ years. In 2003 Rhonda commenced additional study at the University of QLD and QUT to add Hygiene and Health Promotion as qualifications. In 2006 Rhonda joined Jephson Street Dental. As a registered Oral Health Therapist, Rhonda is able to provide routine dental treatment for children and hygiene services for our adult patients. Rhonda has a keen interested in eating healthy foods and enjoys cooking for her family and friends. She also loves nature and the garden.



Christina Franks

Christina Franks

Christina graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013. On graduation she was granted a place in a competitive graduate year program involving a range of restorative and preventative treatments as well as an expanded academic curriculum program in the Geelong public sector.

Christina enjoys public health promotion and was involved in implementing the Kinder Wide Smiles outreach program, which won the award for best public health initiative in Victoria. Christina also implemented an oral health promotion project aiming to increase oral health education and improve access to newly arrived refugees in Australia.

Christina strives to give her patients something to smile about. She individualises and tailor’s treatment plans to all patients, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment.

In her spare time, Christina enjoys scuba diving, playing guitar, art and travelling.

Steve Ahn BoralHealth (Otago NZ)

Steve Ahn

Steve Ahn has joined Face Value Dental Team in August 2014 as an Oral Health Therapist(OHT).

Steve graduated from Universitiy of Otago in 2010 with a Bachelor of Oral Health and has been working as a dental hygienist and dental therapist in Australia since graduating, in both private and public dental settings. He also worked as a research assistant in University of Melbourne carrying out projects such as VicGen and Splash program.

In his spare time, steve enjoys playing golf, squash, tennis and soccer.

Steve's ethnic background is Korean and therefore is fluent in speaking Korean.

Silvana Nesic

Silvana Nesic has been a part of our practice for 7 years. She is an overseas registered nurse with extensive experience in medical and dental nursing and she is a fantastic cook.

Nicola Macalister (Front Office)

Nicola Macalister

Originally from Brisbane but grew up in Melbourne before moving back in September 2014 with her partner. In her spare time Nicola and her partner enjoy going to antique auctions, day trips to the sunshine coast, dining out and cooking. Nicola prides herself on patient care and enjoys helping people.

Tanya Lathouras (Front Office)

Tanya Lathouras

Originally from New Zealand, Tanya came over to Australia with family at age 15, and has worked in dentistry for 30 years both as receptionist and a dental assistant. In her spare time she likes spending time with her husband and family including her two ragdoll cats and “naughty” toy poodle Olive. Tanya also enjoys her pet sitting business which she has been running for the last couple of years. On weekends Tanya loves swimming and boating at Moreton Bay. 

Kasia Gartska (Dental Assistant)

Kasia Gartska

Originally from Poland, Kasia has been living in Australia for the past 14 years. After graduating from Warsaw University with a Bachelor in Economics Kasia decided to come to Australia. She loves the ocean, sand between her toes and salt in her hair. She loves to cook, swim and run. She keeps us entertained.
